While in Belize in July 2019 I was the unknowing host to two small human botfly larvae (Dermatobia hominis) and over the past 10 weeks I have let them grow under the skin of my right shoulder. They were starting to get rather messy and with an upcoming trip to Europe looming I decided to have them removed. Here is a video clip of the removal. Once watched, you can’t unwatch and people, other than entomologists like myself, might not enjoy this. Thanks to Pierre Poirier (editing), Jessie Anderson (video), Catherine Anderson (commentary) and Dr. Eli Skaff (attending physician) for the video.
